Dental emergencies don't wait for appointments — and neither do we. Monroe Family & Cosmetic Dentistry provides same-day emergency care whenever possible, with experienced doctors ready to relieve pain, address trauma, and protect your oral health.
What We Treat
A dental emergency can be frightening and painful. At Monroe Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, our priority is to see you as quickly as possible — typically the same day — to relieve pain, assess the situation, and provide definitive treatment or stabilization.
Our University at Buffalo–trained doctors have the diagnostic expertise and clinical skill to handle virtually any dental emergency effectively and calmly. From trauma and fractures to infections and lost restorations, we provide comprehensive emergency care in our fully equipped Monroe office.
We also guide patients through appropriate first aid measures over the phone — often making the difference between saving or losing a tooth in cases of avulsion or trauma.
Both Dr. Pete and Dr. Alex earned their degrees from one of the nation's top-ranked dental schools — a foundation of clinical excellence that sets them apart from day one.
Both doctors hold LVI certification — the world's most respected postgraduate program in cosmetic & neuromuscular dentistry. Fewer than 1% of dentists reach this level.
Acute tooth pain is almost always a sign of significant pathology — infection, abscess, or advanced decay. Same-day assessment and pain relief is our immediate priority.
Time is critical — a tooth re-implanted within 30 minutes has the best prognosis. Keep the tooth moist, call us immediately, and we will guide you through emergency protocol.
Fractures range from cosmetic chips to catastrophic crown fractures. We assess the damage, provide immediate stabilization, and plan definitive restoration.
Oral infections can spread rapidly and become medically serious. Same-day drainage and antibiotic therapy when appropriate — do not delay treatment of a suspected abscess.
Exposed tooth structure can be painful and vulnerable. We provide same-day re-cementation or temporary restoration to protect the tooth until definitive care is completed.
Lacerations to the lips, tongue, cheeks, or gums require prompt assessment. We evaluate injury extent and provide appropriate treatment or referral when needed.
Emergency First Aid
These guidelines can make a critical difference in the outcome of a dental emergency before you reach our office.
Handle only by the crown — never touch the root. Rinse gently with milk or saline. Try to re-insert into the socket, or store in milk or the patient's saliva. Seek care within 30 minutes for best prognosis.
Rinse with warm salt water. Do not apply aspirin directly to gum tissue. Over-the-counter ibuprofen or acetaminophen can provide temporary relief. Call us immediately — this is rarely self-resolving.
Rinse mouth with warm water. Apply cold compress to reduce swelling. Save any broken fragments. Avoid chewing on the affected side. Call us for same-day assessment.
Do not apply heat to a swelling. Rinse with warm salt water. Seek care urgently — dental abscesses can spread to surrounding structures rapidly and become medically dangerous without treatment.
Dental emergencies worsen with time. Call Monroe Family & Cosmetic Dentistry immediately — we will see you the same day whenever possible.
